Cedral St Conleth’s Park is set to reopen in time to host the Kildare SFC final on the last Sunday of October.

It was revealed at this week’s Kildare county board meeting in Hawkfield that the revamped Newbridge venue will be handed over by developers Elliott Group on September 20. It follows the completion of works on the new 3,000-seat stand and the installation of underground irrigation piping.

The new stand will have dressing rooms, officials' changing rooms, a Club Kildare Lounge, multi-purpose rooms and shops. Costing €17.5 million, the redevelopment forced the Kildare footballers to play their ‘home’ games at neutral venues, while last year’s county football finals were played at Netwatch Cullen Park in neighbouring Carlow.
