Tyrone joint-manager Brian Dooher has been named as Northern Ireland’s new chief veterinary officer.
An All-Ireland SFC winner as a player and manager, the current deputy chief vet will take up his new role at the end of the month. The appointment comes as Dooher continues to take sole charge of the Tyrone footballers in the absence of the unwell Feargal Logan and will see him lead a multi-disciplinary team of more than 650 staff in the North.
"It will be my privilege to lead my veterinary colleagues to support our farming and food industry," he said.
"I will work constructively and collaboratively with Daera staff and stakeholders, delivery partners and colleagues in other administrations, in Ireland and in the EU on areas of common interest and to meet the future challenges across animal health and welfare and public health."
