New Armagh ladies football manager Greg McGonigle is likely to be without Alex Clarke next season after she signed for Linfield FC Women.

A sister of current Crossmaglen men’s captain and former Armagh forward Jamie, Clarke has put a serious knee injury behind her to commit her immediate future to the Belfast club. Like Jamie, she previously played soccer with Newry City.

 “I’m looking forward to it, it’s a great opportunity. Linfield is a big club and obviously I’ve been following them over the last couple of years,” she told Linfield TV.

“When I played with Newry City in my younger days, they were the team, so it’s nice to join them and put on the blue jersey.”
