Three of Gaelic football’s top goalkeepers are set to miss a number of 2024 Allianz League games in order to attend an American Football training week.

Monaghan All-Star ‘keeper Rory Beggan along with Wicklow’s Mark Jackson and Down’s Charlie Smyth will attend the combine in Indianapolis from February 27 to March 4. All three are hoping to impress scouts from all 32 NFL teams with their place-kicking skills, while former Ireland U20 rugby full back Darragh Leader is also travelling and is aiming to make it as a punter.

The three inter-county goalkeepers were invited the attend after impressing during a two-stage selection process at Loughborough University in the UK and Dublin last month.
