Dublin's demise has been greatly exaggerated.
The Dubs floored Kildare with five goals in the first-half at Croke Park yesterday to complete a Leinster SFC twelve-in-a-row.
Last year's championship exit to Mayo, coupled with relegation from Division 1 for the first time since 1995, had raised doubts as to whether they're a team in decline after winning six successive All-Ireland titles but former Sky Blues midfielder Ciaran Whelan says this talk has 'energised' Dessie Farrell's charges.
"This one, compared to some of the other ones, might be a little more special, given the spring they had," Whelan said when speaking to RTE sport afterwards.
"They've a culture within their group where they're not used to being beaten. They were probably sore throughout the league campaign.
"Maybe people writing them off energised them because it looked like that appetite and that workrate is back."
