Wexford manager Davy Fitzgerald will have to plan without infuential defender Paudie Foley this year.

The Crossabeg-Ballymurn clubman, who has played every single league and championship game for Wexford since 2018, has decided to step away from the county squad, as reported by the Irish Independent yesterday.

In 2019, Foley was a vital figure in the Model County's capture of the Leinster SHC title for the first time in 15 years and the half-back rarely missed getting onto the scoresheet with his long-range scores from placed balls and open play.

His decision is a huge blow to Wexford's hopes of adding further silverware under Fitzgerald's watch after they were dethroned in last year's provincial semi-final by Galway.
