A Dublin GAA club is holding a fundraiser on Easter Monday to help develop existing GAA training facilities in the war-torn Palestinian West Bank.

Hosted by Lucan Sarsfields, ‘Puck for Palestine’ is an U11 hurling and camogie blitz that will bring together teams from Dublin, Kildare and Meath. The fundraiser, which also aims to bring 30 Palestinian children and mentors to Ireland for a week in July, has already exceeded its €5,000 target on whydonate by almost €2,000.

“Nearly 30 clubs from Dublin, Kildare and Meath are taking part - half of these are bringing both hurling and camogie teams,” the club posted on Facebook.

“The impact and significance of the money raised will not be lost on those who take part and everything that’s good about the GAA, whether it’s in Lucan or Tulkarm will be on show in the form of people volunteering their time and energy ahead of the event and on the day.

“Every child who plays will receive a cert of attendance and branded GAA Palestine water bottle with additional merchandise on sale on the day.”
