Yesterday's Ulster Club JFC quarter-final between Arva and Ballymaguigan in Owenbeg was marred by reports of an assault on referee Mark Dorrian and one of his linesmen.

According to Northern Sound Radio, the incident happened after a Ballymaguigan player was shown a red card in the closing stages of Arva's 2-17 to 0-8 win. The linesman had attempted to protect the referee when he too was allegedly struck.

The Cavan champions' semi-final opponents will be Lisnaskea whose 1-9 to 2-5 quarter-final victory over Na Rossa in Letterkenny was also shrouded in controversy.

Three Na Rossa players were sent off along with their manager Declan Bonner and team physio Mickey McGlynn. Afterwards, former Donegal player and manager Bonner described the standard of officating as “an absolute disgrace”.
