Donegal’s All-Ireland U21 football championship winning side will be honoured tonight (Friday) at the Abbey Hotel in Donegal Town.
Monday week marks 40 years to the day since Donegal defeated Roscommon by 0-8 to 0-5 in Carrick-on-Shannon to land the county’s first All-Ireland title in the grade.
The success also planted the seeds for the Tir Chonaill County’s inaugural All-Ireland SFC triumph in 1992, with many of the same players helping the team to Sam Maguire Cup success that famous day against Dublin at Croke Park.
