Tempers flared early in the second-half of tonight’s Allianz Hurling League encounter between Limerick and Galway at the Gaelic Grounds.
After Limerick’s Kyle Hayes had done his best to keep the sliotar in play along the sideline without his hurley, tensions boiled over between both teams and it resulted in his team mate Gearoid Hegarty receiving a straight red card.
Henry Shefflin's men went on to win the game by 0-27 to 1-18, making it two victories in as many weeks and condeming Limerick to their second loss of the campaign in the process.
As it stands, 2020 Hurler of the Year Hegarty will now miss the All-Ireland champions’ third round clash against Cork at the end of the month.
