Rhode footballers and brothers Conor and Ruairi McNamee will undertake a 200km virtual cycle to Westport on Saturday, December 18 in aid of Jigsaw.

The pair have set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the mental health support service following the tragic death of their team-mate Dean Morris last May. They will be completing the relay cycle using the stationary WATT bike in Conor’s Bear Trap gym in Rhode. Slots are available to keep them company along the way.

“This past year has been a difficult one for both me and Ruairi,” Conor said in a Facebook post.

“We lost a truly great friend in Dean due to mental health problems so this fundraiser is very important to us. Mental health issues effect every family in the country in some way. People are in constant need of support, in need of a friend to check in on them, in need of a shoulder to cry on, to get whatever is troubling them out in the open.

“Charities like Jigsaw provide such services and they too are in constant need of support so please donate as much as you can within reason for a very worthy cause. Every little helps in hopefully preventing another, as amazing as Dean, from leaving his family and friends behind.

“If anybody would like to get involved further you can book in a time slot (contact directly) on the day of the 18th December, to cycle alongside Conor or Ruairi to keep them going along their very long cycle which will take around eight hours.”
