Sarsfields will play Imokilly in the Cork Premier senior hurling championship final in two weeks’ time after both sides came through their respective semi-finals at Pairc Ui Chaoimh today.
Reigning champions Sarsfields needed a late point from Aaron Myers to secure their final return as they edged out Midleton by 0-22 to 0-21.
The holders had trailed by 0-12 to 0-9 at the halfway stage and upped it a gear in the second-half and, with the sides all square in 0-20 apiece in the 57th minute, points from Daniel Hogan and Myers outweighed one from Conor Lehane at the other end in the closing stages.
The earlier game at Cork GAA HQ saw Imokilly impressive in a 1-29 to 1-20 victory over 33-time champions Blackrock.
Jack Leahy led the way with 1-8 over the hour for the East Cork side, including an early goal, while county attacker Alan Connolly contributed 1-9 in the Rockies’ defeat.
