Shane Kingston provided the heroics in the dying stages of tonight’s Allianz Hurling League Division 1A first round clash between Cork and Limerick at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.
The Rebels were made to come from behind against Treaty men and it was this superb strike for Shane Kingston (see below) in the 10th minute of injury-time that cemented their 2-17 to 0-22 victory over the All-Ireland champions.
It was Limerick that held a doubles scores lead (0-16 to 0-8) at the halfway stage before Pat Ryan’s men battled back with goals from Robbie O’Flynn and Declan Dalton in the first 10 minutes of the second-half.
Points from Patrick Horgan (2) and Declan Dalton brought the home side level and they’d hit the front prior to Ciaran Barry coming off the bench to level for the Shannonsiders and Oisin O’Reilly and David Reidy sailed over to seemingly warp up the points.
However, Cork had other ideas and the scores of Horgan and Conor Lehane had it looking like the spoils would be shared until Kingston’s late intervention.
