Former Clare All-Ireland winning coach Louis Mulqueen is the new manager of Cork hurling giants Blackrock.
Mulqueen, who succeeds Fergal Ryan in the role, will have his sights set on leading the Rockies to their second Sean Óg Murphy Cup success in three seasons in the coming year.
He coached his native Clare to an All-Ireland MHC title in 1997 before going on to serve under senior managers Ger Loughnane, Cyril Lyons and Davy Fitzgerald, winning the Liam MacCarthy Cup with the latter in 2013. More recently, the secondary school principal spent five years in charge of Liam Mellows and guided them to their first Galway SHC title in 47 years in 2017.
