Return to Play

So excited to have all our U18 teams back this week albeit non-contact and in pods of 15. Remember all COVID guidelines will be strictly adhered to by our coaches and every child must be registered before returning to our playing grounds. It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that fees are paid, and COVID compliance forms are downloaded and completed. We thank all our coaches who have committed to look after our juveniles for the 2021 season. Remember all this work is completely voluntary, and is undertaken by those committed to encouraging all juveniles to progress and enjoy the game. All our coaches are garda vetted and have undergone child protection training. Best of luck to juvenile chairman Michael Farrelly and the juvenile committee for a successful return. Remember all children must be registered on Foireann, the new GAA management system, before taking part in any training.

Grounds Development New Floodlights

Twenty years ago in the year 2001, the club had the foresight to install floodlights on our main playing field & training lights on our training field at a cost of €75k. We were the envy of every club in the county and surrounding area. In recent years the lights have become expensive to operate plus replacement bulbs are very costly hence the need to review. In September last year the club approached the local sustainable energy committee to seek advice on the possible savings on their energy usage. An audit was carried out by the North East Sustainable Energy network and proposals were submitted to replace the present floodlighting with LED floodlights plus upgrading all other lighting applications along with upgrading our heating system. We are confident our application will be successful but we are awaiting confirmation. The total cost is in the region of €100k with a grant available of approximately €50k. Thanks to committee member Phil Smith and the local sustainable energy committee for taking the lead on this project!
