Seanorinn The Gaels are finished and it will take them years to recover

To that other poster who advocated that I go away, I just say if is nice to be humble and I am a humble man

I just used the term 2020 when I stated that I hoped that these players do not pay into a County Final until 2020 and the rate that the Gaels go through panelists I feel that very few of the current stock will be playing then
But sure the Gaels GAA club and Cavan Town has had a wonderful run with some wonderful moments/times experienced by this Town team over the past 20 years. I feel that the victory parades will be few and far between for the next few years( much to the delight of the Gaels begrudgers) but one never knows.

The word on the streets in Cavan Town is that a big named player is trying to transfer to Cavan Gaels from another smaller club
.
While a smaller club may suffer a loss the strengthening of the Gaels team is important for the progression of Cavan football

It might improve Cavan Gaels but i dont see how it would improve the county - he s as good a player no matter who he plays with.
Two examples - Stephen King never left his junior club and was still one of the best players in the country
Anthony Forde left his club and i dont think it improved him or the county team.

When did he start living in Cavan Town he works in Ballyconnell has this changed. Either way it does not matter it will make him a stronger player playing senior football if he did move to a senior club like the gaels. I wish him well either way. Anthony Forde and Paul McCorry will do a great job with the gales don't be a bit surprised if they win the next ten senior titles if these two stay at the helm. I am a great admirer of the way Paul trains/coaches and it will rub off for sure. Good luck to Anthony and Paul.

absolute nonsense - how do you think it would make him a better player and dont give me " he ll have better players around him week in week out "
think it through and tell me exactly how his game would improve - ie what would he do different ?

to be honest it doesn't matter what club you play for. If you look at the cavan teams of recent times , there is usually 15 diffrent clubs represented on the team with a few more among the subs. The county Champions have only one player on the team. The Gaels have 2 or 3 in the match day squad. Some of the best players for Cavan over the years have come from junior or inter clubs, peter and larry Reilly, etc. What it might do is improve the opposition midfielders on the senior teams in the county , playing against him.

Mr Goldrick You state that the Gaels have two three (The Gaels have 2 or 3 in the match day squad) on a match day squad. Cavan Gaels have been the best team in Cavana for a long number of years and should have had 7/8 players on the Cavan senior team team .

Is that question for me tenyearplan or should it now be 5 year plan ??
If it is requesting a reply well I feel you need look no further than the club he is suppose to be going to and to the players that transferred to them and represented the county with distinction. I am sure senior football is better than junior football so you are playing against stronger and more committed players. He will 99% of the time be player of the match at junior games but this will change at senior level and it will be an incentive to add that bit more to his conditioning and technical skills to be getting picked week on week as player of the team or the match.

Tomsmith here Dr Phil Cavan Gaels do have problems in getting support/players out . We gather support from Bankers /Teachers/army and Gardai, So /many of our supporters work in emergency services which render it difficult to get all people /players out all the time

Tomsmith here Seanorinn and Dr Phill I take it that both of you support small rural clubs where the vast amount of the supporters are Farmers , Cattle, Dairy, Sheep, and Turf men. Probably a few factory workers, a few unemployed and Forestry men thrown in where time does not matters to a lot of them. We in the Gaels have our own problems like i said you have teachers Bankers, Gardai, Military personnel, Doctors, Engineers, and Traffic enforcement personnel. As one of you can rightly understand a lot of these types of people who operate in a high powered environment cherish leisure time and as such are only interested in coming out on County final day to cheer on our winning team. That is why we sometimes when nothing is at stake we do not get a massive crowd..

I can assure you skeptical that Tomsmith will continue to post without fear favor malice or ill will. I will continue to post at all times and my posts did and will reflect all that is good in Gaelic football in Cavan
That is clearly borne out when I posted years ago that David Givney should be on the Cavan panel. Look at the service he has now given Cavan Gaa
