The first round draws for the Cavan senior, intermediate and junior football championships have been made tonight at the Hotel Kilmore, throwing up some intriguing clashes for the summer.
Cavan Gaels will open their senior championship defence with a derby against Killygarry while 2016 champions Ramor United face Lacken.
Donal Keogan's Castlerahan side open their campaign against Cootehill and intermediate champions Shercock start life in the top tier against Crosserlough.
In the intermediate grade, the pick of the seven first rounds games sees last year's beaten finalists Ballyhaise taking on Belturbet - only Michael Brady's point separated the sides after 120 minutes of football in a semi-final replay last September - while the meetings of Killeshandra and Mullahoran and Arva and Drumgoon should also be very interesting.
In the junior championship, demoted sides Killinkere, Denn and Drumlane will play Mountnugent, Kildallan and Maghera respectively.
The senior and intermediate championships are scheduled to start on weekend of August 5/6, with the junior competition to begin a weekend earlier on July 28/29.
