Scór Sinsear County Champions!

Congratulations to our Clubmates Eimear, Conor and Meadbh Connolly who are 2016 Scór County Senior Champions in the Instrumental section after winning the County Final in Killeshandra on 6th February. They went on to represent Cavan in the Ulster Scór semi-final in Three Mile House, Monaghan on 12th February and were very unlucky not to qualify for the Final. Well done - the Club is very proud of you all.

Coaching/Training Courses

CODE OF ETHICS - CHILD PROTECTION COURSE - Joanne Gannon has arranged for Sean Doherty to give this course on THURSDAY 25TH FEBRUARY in KILLYGARRY COMMUNITY CENTRE at 7PM. The course will last approximately 3 hours and the cost is €5 per person. Every coach must have done this course from Killykickers coaches upwards.

Medals Presentations

Medals were presented to the Senior winning teams from 2015 - Ladies Intermediate Champions and Mens Breffni League Division 1B winners in the Meadow View last Friday night. There were also presentations to 2015 newly-wed couples and to the Club representatives on the 2015 McRory Cup winning team.

Club Jubilee

2016 is the 50th Jubilee year of the formation of the Club in 1966. There will be a Gala Dinner in October in the Hotel Kilmore. There will also be a number of events organised during the year to mark the occasion, including a Jubilee book.

All-Ireland winner Mattie McKenna!

Congratulations to Mattie McKenna who won an All-Ireland Freshers A winning medal for DCU in the final against UCD in Croke Park last week. Mattie came on as a sub in the final and was among six of last year's McRory Cup team on the DCU squad.

Club Senior Men

The Senior squad continued their preparations for the new season with a challenge match against Mostrim GAA in Edgeworthstown last Sunday. By all accounts it was a worthwhile workout although we didn't have a full squad there. The Spring League throw-in isn't far away - Sunday 6 March away to Ballinagh.

Club Senior Ladies

The Senior Ladies had a good win against Belturbet last Sunday on the 3G pitch - Belturbet 4-08, Killygarry 7-08. Next weekend's fixture is against Lacken in the same competition.

Minor Men

The minors had a comfortable win away to Ballinagh in tough weather conditions last Sunday - Ballinagh 1-06, Killygarry 4-10. Next up is a home fixture against Castlerahan on Sat 5th March.

McRory Cup

St. Pat's came up short in the McRory Cup quarter-final against last year's final opponents St. Pat's Dungannon in Corduff, Monaghan last Saturday. They lost by just one point after extra time - St. Pats Cavan 1-08, St. Pats Dungannon 0-12. Hard luck to our lads Darragh Kennedy, Conor Smith, Dara Brady and Anselm Lovett as well as manager Shane Fitzpatrick and all the team.

Loreto Girls in All-Ireland

Loreto girls couldn't overcome Scoil Mhuire, Carrick-on-Suir in the All-Ireland semi-final in Clane GAA, Kildare last Saturday. The final score was Scoil Mhuire 2-12, Loreto 0-04. Geraldine Smith contributed a point. Hard luck to our girls on the squad - Geraldine, Niamh O'Shea & Ellie Galligan.

Healthy Clubs Project

The Community & Health Department in Croke Park has chosen our club to participate in phase 2 of the GAA's Healthy Clubs Project. This is a fantastic achievement and we should be very proud. We were among almost 100 applications of an exceptional standard from all over Ireland, highlighting the huge interest in the space of health and wellbeing. Representatives from our Club attended the National Healthy Club Orientation Day in Croke Park last Saturday. We'll give more details of the project in future newsletters.

County Board Jailbreak!

Club members Mark Lynch, Tom Maguire and Lorraine Teevan are helping the Cavan County Board with this big fundraiser. They need to raise €3,000 each in bail money to get themselves out of Crumlin Road jail in Belfast on 18th March so they'll be organising events in the near future to help raise enough! Lorraine is holding a Jailbreak Table Quiz in The Kesh next Saturday 27th February to raise her bail money. Kick-off is 9PM and a table of four costs €40 (she had to raise her price, otherwise she'd have no chance of raising enough bail money!). You still have time to get that team together to help her out. She also has a sponsorship card in the home dressing room if you would like to help her out.

Running Club

Our running/jogging/walking club continues to go from strength to strength with big numbers turning up every week. You have a choice of any of the following sessions on both Tuesdays and Thursdays - 5.30-6.15PM, 6.30-7.15PM or 7.30-8.15PM. There is also a session on Saturday at 9.30AM. Each session costs just €2 and for that you will get the best of instruction from Peter Walsh. The sessions cater for all levels starting from beginners upwards.
