Intermediate Championship
Last week was certainly a rollercoaster ride for supporters of the Ballyhaise Senior team. After a promising first round performance against Drumlane Ballyhaise took on Cavan Gaels in the second round in Breffni Park on the evening of Monday 1st. The hope of victory, however, was dashed by a lethargic performance from Ballyhaise that allowed the Gaels almost total dominance for most of the match. The six point margin of defeat seemed to have dealt a fatal blow to their chances of qualifying for the quarter final.

Ballyhaise entered the third round against Drumgoon on Friday evening knowing that they had to win by at least four points to be sure of progression to the next round. A fit and in form Drumgoon team made a whirlwind start to the match to lead by five points with just ten minutes gone. It looked all over for the men in green and gold but they proceeded to put in one of their best performances in years as they dragged themselves back to level terms at the half time whistle. Ballyhaise completely dominated the second half to win by the required five points and put themselves in the hat for the next round. The team, management and supporters were delighted with the result and the manner of the performance but they all know that any repeat in the future of their second round display against Cavan Gaels will bring a swift end to their championship dreams for another year.
