Walsh back for Carlow

Carlow boss Luke Dempsey has received a massive boost after Thomas Walsh recently returned to his squad.

According to today's Irish Independent, the midfielder returned to training last night with Dempsey's panel for the first time since transferring back to his native club Fenagh from Bray Emmets in Wicklow, who he had played with for the last three years after a controversial transfer to the Garden County in 2007.

It is understood that Dempsey had been in regular contact with Walsh in recent weeks and stepped up his bid to lure the player back into the fold, with a vote among the players also taking place last week which helped prompt his return.

His availability creates the prospect of a formidable partnership at centre-field between himself and former Sydney Swans player Brendan Murphy, who has been in impressive form with the county seniors and Under 21s since his return from Down Under.
