Camogie: O'Halloran points the way for Royals in Rathmolyon

Meath's Olivia O'Halloran heads for the Carlow goal as Gillian Doyle gives chase during the All Ireland Intermediate Camigie championship at Rathmolyon

Meath 3-19 Carlow 1-12

A Player of the Match performance from Olivia O’Halloran coupled with goals from Grace Coleman (2) and Ciara Foley paved the way for Meath’s second win in the All Ireland Intermediate camogie championship played in perfect conditions on a perfect sod at Rathmolyon.

The home side raced into a 0-5 to 0-1 lead after 15 minutes with points from Grace Coleman, Erin Reddy and three from the outstanding Olivia O’Halloran. 

Eleanor Tracey narrowed the lead to two before O’Halloran added another brace. Carlow finished with a a mini flourish with three answered scores from Ciara Kavanagh and Treacy (2) before O’Hallloran closed out the half with her 6th point and Meath went to the dressing room 0-8 to 0-6 in front.

A brilliant opening 15 minutes in the second half put this game to bed. O’Halloran got the scoreboard working again before full forward Ciara Foley got the games first goal. Grace Coleman added 1-1 and by the 45th minute Meath were 2-13 to 0-7 in front. The Royals added another four points before Carlow got their goal, a stunning strike from midfielder Caoimhe Coady. Meath responded in kind as Coleman raised her second green flag to complete a comprehensive victory for Gary Cole/Thomas Moloney's charges.
