A crowd of 10,749 patrons turned up at a redeveloped Páirc Uí Chaoimh last night as the iconic Cork venue opened its doors for the first time after 18 months of building work.
The occasion was a Cork Premier intermediate hurling championship clash between Valley Rovers and Blarney, which the former won comfortably on a 1-21 to 1-8 score-line.
The game acted as a soft opening for the newly redeveloped venue ahead of hosting this weekend's All-Ireland SHC quarter-finals, which see Tipperary taking on Clare on Saturday (throw-in 3pm) and Waterford playing Wexford the following day at 4pm.
