Galway hurling referee's sudden passing

The sudden death of well-known referee Mike Dolan caused shock and sadness in Galway hurling circles yesterday.

The deceased, who was a member of the Kilconieron and Sarsfields clubs, was involved in the GAA as both a player and referee for over 40 years. Among the countless games he took charge of was the 2013 Galway SHC final. He also acted as linesman at the recent Galway JHC final.

Mick, who is survived by his wife Maureen, daughter Tina and son Michael, will be laid to rest in Kilconieron Cemetery on Sunday after 12.30pm Funeral Mass in Kilconieron Church.
