There's more good news for Mayo today with confirmation from Andy Moran that he'll be making himself available for selection once again in 2017.

Following on from last night's All Star awards ceremony where Lee Keegan and Diarmuid O'Connor scooped the Footballer of the Year and the Young Football of the Year accolades, Moran informed Newstalk of his intention to carry on for another year - pending permission from his wife!

"I live at home, my business is in Castlebar. The stage of my life, it's much easier for me to make the decision. So if the wife gives me the green light, I can do whatever I want," he said.

"Basically, that makes the decision for me. The challenging group in the GAA are the guys between 25 and 28, who want to make a career choice, who might want to travel, or might want to move to Dublin, which makes it more difficult to play for Mayo.

"Little things like that. If the manager wants us older fellas back, I haven't talked to them, but I'm sure we'd be coming back, if he wants us back."

The veteran Ballaghadereen attacker is Mayo's most 'capped' footballer with 141 appearances. He overtook the record previously held by James Nallen when featuring against London in last May's Connacht SFC opener at Ruislip.
