Clare's Podge Collins won't be pursuing a dual mandate in 2017.
The 2013 All-Star hurler juggled hurling and football commitments this summer but he has admitted that he found the going tough.
Speaking to Clare FM, he revealed his intention to concentrate on one code in the new year but stopped short of declaring if it will be football or hurling.
"I'd say I'll just play the one next year.
"I suppose this year, just the way the fixtures fell with both teams getting to the quarter-finals, big games were on the same weekend.
"Like, the weekend of the Laois game and the weekend of the Roscommon and Galway game.
"So playing two games in a weekend it's unfair, I suppose, on myself and both teams so, unfortunately, I don't think that's sustainable so next year I'll just be playing the one."
