Clare County Board insists Cusack Park is ready to host Sunday's NHL Division 1B promotion showdown with Limerick.

The Ennis venue is undergoing a €2.3m revamp and the main stand has been closed since July, 2015. The stand was initially scheduled to reopen in January and workers are in a race with the clock to have it finished for Sunday. However, with a huge crowd expected to flock to this weekend's Shannonside derby, chairman Joe Cooney says the show will go on:

"If we weren't in a position to open all four areas this Sunday, consideration would have to be given to where the game would have been played," he told The Irish Examiner.

"The capacity of the stadium with just the three terraces open is around 10,000 and I am not sure if that would be sufficient to cater for the large crowd we expect this weekend. We had our meeting and it is all systems go for Sunday.

"We will be ready. There's work to be done and we are focused on getting it done. We had hoped to have this project finished earlier in the year but given the weather was so bad, it delayed work on several occasion. The bottom line is that it is all systems go for Sunday.
