Sligo legend Mickey Kearins is to be immortalised in the form of a statue.
The legendary Sligo footballer is to be honoured for his achievements with the county by a sculpture, which will be erected in the county.
A fundraising committee has been formed to raise money for the project with a number of events being suggested over the course of the year.
Kearins, who recently celebrated his 70th birthday, played for Sligo for 18 years and won the Connacht championship in 1975.
