Homecoming row reports "unhelpful" - Donegal County Board

September 04, 2012

Donegal celebrate their Ulster final win over Down at Clones.
Donegal County Board has hit out at "false" reports of a row over the footballers' homecoming.

One national newspaper today claimed that a row had broken out in the county over the prospective venue of the homecoming party after the forthcoming September 23rd All-Ireland final clash with Mayo, but the County Board has issued a statement denying the validity of this report:

"The County Executive in conjunction with senior team management and players, will decide on the issue of a homecoming. Talks of a homecoming at this point are entirely premature and the focus should be on match preparation rather than events after the final.

"Media reports today claiming that a huge row has broken out among Donegal GAA fans are false. This story has been generated by certain media outlets in conjunction with persuasive groups and some elected representatives. This is most unhelpful as we prepare for our second ever All Ireland final."
