Cross star wins red card appeal
March 04, 2011
Danny O'Callaghan of Crossmaglen Rangers
Crossmaglen Rangers centre back Danny O'Callaghan will be available for the All-Ireland senior club final after winning his appeal against his dismissal during last weekend's semi-final win over Kilmacud Crokes.
O'Callaghan was shown a straight red card by Waterford referee Maurice Condon during the second half of the game at Pairc Tailteann.
Two Kilmacud players were also sent off on the day, but all three dismissals appeared harsh and Cross manger Tony McEntee pledged to appeal against O'Callaghan's red.
That appeal has been upheld by the GAA's Central Hearings Commiteee, meaning O'Callaghan will be eligible for the final against St Brigid's of Roscommon on St Patrick's Day.
