Sarsfields ended their seven-year wait for the Kildare senior football championship crown with a 1-14 to 1-10 victory over Maynooth at Cedral St Conleth's Park this afternoon.
The sides were level at 0-6 apiece at half-time, with Mark Donnellan's long-range two-point free ensuring Maynooth remained firmly in contention.
Sarsfields took control after the restart, with Shea Ryan and Daragh Ryan among those contributing important scores before Con Kavanagh produced a superb goal in the 48th minute to open up a 1-12 to 0-9 advantage.
Maynooth battled to stay in touch and Paddy Ryan found the net late on, but Ben McCormack added two crucial points to ensure the Newbridge side held on for victory.
The triumph secures Sarsfields' first county title since 2019, while Maynooth's remarkable run to their first final since 1916 ended in disappointment.
