St Brigid’s claimed their first ever Antrim senior football championship title with a 0-21 to 1-16 victory over Belfast rivals O’Donovan Rossa at Corrigan Park on Sunday.
After falling behind 0-7 to 0-4 early on, Ronan McGrady led the comeback as St Brigid’s took a 0-11 to 0-9 lead into half-time.
Diarmuid Rogan’s goal brought Rossa back into contention after the restart, setting up a tight second-half with the lead changing hands several times.
St Brigid’s held their nerve in the closing stages, with JJ Higgins landing the final three scores in the added minutes to seal a memorable triumph.
The victory capped a historic day for St Brigid’s as they captured a maiden SFC crown since the club was formed in 1998.
