Tommy Larkins have secured their place in the Galway senior hurling championship final after a thrilling 2-26 to 1-27 extra time victory over Clarinbridge at Kenny Park.

Jason Flynn led the charge with an impressive 0-13 points over the 80 minutes in Athenry.

Conor Gardiner found the net in normal time, while Ronan Murphy’s crucial goal in the added periods helped swing the contest in Tommy Larkins’ favour.

Despite a determined late rally from Clarinbridge, which included scores from Mark Kennedy and Evan Niland, who finished with 0-15, Tommy Larkins held firm to secure a memorable victory.

The victory marks their first senior final appearance since 1971, with holders Loughrea and Craughwell locking horns in the other semi-final tomorrow afternoon in Athenry (3pm).

Meanwhile, this afternoon's relegation playoff in the Tommy Callinan Cup saw Cappataggle recording an emphatic 4-23 to 0-17 win over Moycullen.
