Eight-time All-Ireland winner Ciaran Kilkenny is set to begin a new chapter in his football career after being appointed manager of TU Dublin’s Sigerson Cup team.
The former Dublin star announced his inter-county retirement in July after a distinguished career that yielded an incredible eight Celtic Crosses, 12 Leinster titles and six All-Star awards.
Kilkenny will be joined on the coaching ticket by former Castleknock team-mate Tommy McDaniel, with Christy Broe also part of the backroom set-up.
The appointment marks a return to the college game for Kilkenny, who previously served as player-manager with St Pat’s Drumcondra during their maiden Sigerson Cup campaign in 2016.
His attention will also be on club duty this weekend, as he prepares to line out for Castleknock in Sunday’s Dublin senior football championship final against Cuala (4.15pm).
