Tullamore continued their remarkable run in Offaly football by defeating Ferbane on a 2-16 to 1-13 scoreline at O’Connor Park to secure a fourth consecutive senior football championship title.
Harry Plunkett and Declan Hogan found the net as Tullamore produced a composed second-half display to secure the Dowling Cup and extend their dominance of Offaly football.
The sides were level at 1-7 to 0-10 at half-time after Plunkett’s first-half goal was cancelled out by Ferbane’s determined response. Cian Johnson struck a goal shortly after the restart to put Ferbane back in contention, but the holders responded brilliantly.
Hogan’s superb goal in the 39th minute sparked a decisive scoring burst, with Tullamore hitting 1-6 without reply to open up a commanding lead. Mike Fox, Daire McDaid, Cormac Egan and Plunkett all contributed crucial scores.
Ferbane battled to the finish, but Tullamore’s experience and composure proved decisive as they secured the six-point victory and condemned their rivals to a fourth successive final defeat.
