Armagh duo call it a day

Armagh's Rory Grugan and James Morgan have retired from inter-county football.

Long-serving forward Grugan won an All-Ireland SFC medal in 2024 - he picked up a bad injury against Galway in the final - after making his debut agaisnt Down in the 2011 Dr McKenna Cup. The Ballymacnab clubman's championship debut came two years later as a substitute against Wicklow in an All-Ireland SFC Qualifier.

The former Armagh captain said in an Instagram post on Monday night: “The greatest honour of my life. Thank you."

James Morgan has also hung up his inter-county boots, according to RTÉ. The Crossmaglen defender won an All-Ireland MFC title with Grugan in 2009, but missed out on the 2024 Sam Maguire triumph due to injury.

Grugan now joins fellow 2024 All-Ireland winners Stefan Campbell, Jemar Hall, Ciaron O'Hanlon, Niall Rowland, Ciaran Higgins and Shane McPartlan in retirement.
