Portarlington and Courtwood set for another Laois SFC final date

Courtwood and Portarlington booked their places in the Laois senior football championship final after coming through this afternoon's semi-finals at Laois Hire O’Moore Park.

Courtwood edged a dramatic extra time clash with St Joseph’s on 2-16 to 0-20 scoreline at the Portlaoise venue to make it back-to-back county finals.

Matthew Byron played a key role, while Cian Doyle and substitute Dylan Keane produced the crucial late scores. Doyle brought Courtwood closer before Keane’s superb two-point effort put them ahead, with Courtwood holding on from there.

Portarlington enjoyed a more comfortable afternoon in the second semi-final as they defeated Killeshin by 2-19 to 0-10.

Jordan Fitzpatrick and Paddy O’Sullivan were among the scorers as the defending champions controlled proceedings.

The victory sends Portarlington into their sixth SFC final in seven years as they chase a third successive county title.
