Semi-finals pairings confirmed in Roscommon SFC

St Brigid’s, Strokestown, Boyle and Padraig Pearses have come through quarter-final weekend in the Roscommon senior football championship.

Holders St Brigid’s produced a strong second-half display to defeat Roscommon Gaels 4-15 to 0-18 at Woodmount this afternoon.

Ben O’Carroll led the scoring with 1-5, while Conor Hand and Charlie O’Carroll also found the net as the holders moved a step closer towards a 20th Fahey Cup success.

Boyle overcame Oran 3-17 to 0-19 at Orchard Park, with Cian McKeon producing an excellent second-half performance and Roch Hanmore adding a crucial late goal to seal victory.

Padraig Pearses required extra time to see off Michael Glaveys (3-17 to 1-13) in Lisnamult on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Strokestown proved too strong for Castlerea St Kevin’s on Friday night, winning out by 1-15 to 1-9 by at Ballyforan. Mikey Kavanagh scored the decisive goal, while Strokestown’s defence held firm despite a late rally from their opponents.

The semi-finals will see Pearses facing Boyle while defending champions St Brigid’s meet Strokestown, with both games scheduled for the weekend of October 3/4.
