Age is but a number for Ardclough's Tony Spain

Tony Spain continues to light up the Kildare SHC at the age of 49.

In last Friday night’s Group B Round 2 clash at Cedral St Conleth’s Park, the former county star came off the bench with five minutes remaining and scored an injury-time goal to give Ardclough a 2-19 to 0-23 victory over Clane. Spain took a pass from Sean Buggy before finishing past Clane goalkeeper Mark Doyle.  

The sides were level on nine occasions before Cian Shanahan’s injury-time point had looked to have given Clane the win. But there was still time for Spain to find the net before a late exchange of points between Clane’s Paddy McKenna and the aforementioned Buggy.
