Mayo footballers go down a treat at Electric Picnic

An appearance on stage by members of Mayo’s All-Ireland-winning football team proved to be one of the highlights of the final day of Electric Picnic on Sunday.

Team captain Jack Coyne Eoin McGreal, Jordan Flynn and teenage sensation Kobe McDonald – who recently joined AFL club St Kilda – were among the Mayo stars who joined The Saw Doctors in front of a crowd of over 50,000 people for a rousing rendition of ‘The Green and Red of Mayo’. Also on stage were Castlebar men Tom Coll and Conor Deegan from festival headliners Fontaines DC.   

Describing it as “the coolest thing I’ve ever done”, Kobe McDonald added: “I think there was probably a couple more than 50,000 [people] too, that was nuts out there, but yeah, pretty cool.”
