2027 merger on track, says Camogie president

Brian Molloy says the 2027 date for the merger of the GAA, LGFA and Camogie Association remains a realistic target, despite facing a number of obstacles.

Speaking on RTÉ Radio 1’s Morning Ireland after the draws took place for the All-Ireland Camogie Championship quarter-finals, Molloy commented: "It’s on track. It’s achievable, subject to Congress approval, with Special Congresses taking place in October.

"We went around the country in February and March. We listened to people. People had very genuine concerns and we have listened.

"We have tried to address them with making some adjustments to the proposed structures, but for the vast majority of people, integration to a single national governing body won’t actually impact them.

"We are not changing the playing rules. Coaches or referees will be impacted by it, none of the competitions will be changed as a result of integration.

"The prize we are going after is hugely positive. It’s hugely important for all players of Gaelic games to have a level playing field. Everyone should have equitable and reasonable access to our facilities."
