Former Tipperary All-Ireland winner Shane McGrath says Wexford need a response against Dublin on Saturday if they are to get their championship campaign back on track.

Having edged Kildare in their Leinster senior hurling championship opener last month, Keith Rossiter’s side slumped to a 5-21 to 1-16 defeat at the hands of Kilkenny.

This weekend marks their first home game in the Bob O’Keeffe Cup race and, speaking on the RTE GAA podcast, McGrath believes that the Slaneysiders must deliver a performance against the capital men.

"It’s on down in Wexford, the home crowd, and if there’s one man that can stir the emotions it would be Keith Rossiter,” said the 2010 All-Ireland winner.

"I’m sure he’s a 'when he speaks, everyone listens’ kind of guy for what he did when he was playing himself and the passion he brings to it.

"If there isn’t (a response) the year is more or less done for them."

Throw-in for Saturday’s Leinster SHC third round clash at Chadwicks Wexford Park is at 4pm and the game will be shown live on RTE.
