John Kiely was delighted with Limerick’s shooting in their impressive 2-30 to 1-18 Munster SHC Round 2 victory over Clare.
The Treatymen made light of the absence of the injured Aaron Gillane and suspended captain Cian Lynch to overpower their local rivals in Ennis as they put their opening day defeat to Cork firmly behind them.
“Lots of aspects of it were very good. Our use of the ball was very good, our support play was very good, and I think most importantly, compared to last week was our shooting, our efficiency in front of goals,” the Limerick boss enthused.
“We created a lot of opportunities last week. We just didn’t take them and it hurt us badly. You lose matches when you don’t take your chances. Today was the opposite. We took our chances today.”
Kiely wasn’t getting carried away with the win, adding: “Listen, it’s only two points and we have to go back down to the Gaelic Grounds. Waterford have caused a lot of difficulty for teams, no less than ourselves.
“They beat us in the League and we have them coming in two weeks’ time. We have to really, really get ready for that game now because it’s a critical, critical game for us.
“There’s a lot of hurling to be done in this Championship yet. A huge amount of it. It will flow.”
