Cork boosted their hopes of progression from the Munster U20 hurling championship yesterday evening thanks to a 0-16 to 0-13 win over Waterford in Dungarvan.
James O’Brien’s 0-10 contribution proved key as Noel Furlong’s lads picked up their second win of the campaign while eliminating their opponents in the process.

O’Brien hit the last three scores of a tight first-half for the Rebels to take in a 0-6 to 0-5 lead at the break, but the hosts came out all guns blazing for the second-half to go up by three with David Comerford and Conor Tobin to the for fore them.
Cork would eventually restore parity by the 51st minute, with skipper Barry O’Flynn’s point making it 0-12 apiece, and Finn O’Brien shot them in front ahead of the scores of Craig O’Sullivan, Conor Noonan and James O’Brien getting them over the line towards a vital win.
