Offaly came good in the second-half to defeat Meath by 2-18 to 3-11 in yesterday evening’s Leinster U20 hurling championship Phase 2 Tier 1 Round 2 encounter in Kildalkey.
Liam O’Riordan and Kyle Ennis traded goals in the first-half as the sides went in at the break ‘honours even’ on 1-7 apiece.
The start of the second-half would see the visitors upping it a gear and sailing over a brace of points via O’Riordan and Odhran Fletcher before Gearoid Maher’s score put them five to the good and Patrick Lyons finding the net after that.
The Meath response saw Louis McIvor, who finished with 1-8, hammered in a penalty ahead of Darren Higgins putting Patrick Jordan through for their third goal.
Sean Carey sent over the next score for the Faithful County and two more from Fletcher (one free) would see them safely over the line to victory.
