Dublin proved too strong for Antrim at Corrigan Park this afternoon as they recorded an emphatic 1-31 to 1-16 win over the hosts.

Donal Burke was in red-hot form from the start for the capital men, sending over scores that helped them to motor towards a commanding 0-20 to 1-8 half-time lead.

Ruairi Donaghy got the goal for Davy Fitzgerald’s side 10 minutes before the break, but they wouldn’t be able to eat into their opponents’ lead after the change of ends as Chris Crummey fired to their net three minutes into the restart and the scores of Burke, Cian O’Sullivan and Fergal Whitley saw Dublin safely towards their second win of the campaign.

Kildare also record their second victory by handing Down a fourth consecutive defeat on a 3-24 to 1-23 scoreline in Ballycran.

Cathal Dowling struck a brace of goals for the Lilywhites inside the opening seven minutes and, after seeing talisman Jack Sheridan red-carded in the run up to half-time, they’d goal again through Dowling on route to a resounding win which sees them two points ahead of Carlow and Antrim and a point behind third-placed Dublin in the league table.

In Division 2, Laois took another stride towards promotion by defeating Westmeath (1-23 to 0-17) at TEG Cusack Park.

After the opening half in Mullingar saw the sides deadlocked on 0-9 apiece when they went in, the second period would see the visitors eventually upping it a notch and it was Tomás Keyes’s goal that surged them in front in the 45th minute.

Keyes added three unanswered points from frees after that and the scores of James Keyes and Stephen Maher in the closing quarter served to put a seal on the O’Moore men’s fourth consecutive win.

Meanwhile, Donegal also recorded their fourth straight victory in Division 3 by dealing Louth a 3-20 to 1-10 defeat on their own home turf while Wicklow were emphatic in a 5-14 to 0-7 win over Fermanagh in Aughrim.

The day’s only game in Division 4 saw Warwickshire getting off the mark at the fourth attempt in the bottom tier with 3-11 to 0-13 win against Monaghan at Páirc na hÉireann, Birmingham.
