Cork defeated Kilkenny by 3-12 to 1-15 at UPMC Nowlan Park to secure their fourth win on the bounce in Division 1A of the Allianz Hurling League.

Alan Walsh’s goal with two minutes remaining in normal time proved the clinching score for the Rebels as they put on foot back in the competition’s final here.

Brian Hayes found the net two minutes in for the visitors and they’d push their lead out to six with the help of points from Tommy O’Connell, Hayes, William Buckley and Alan Connolly before going in at the break up by 1-9 to 0-6.

Cian Kenny’s frees helped the Leinster champions to narrow their deficit to four points after the change of ends, but they’d be rocked again by a Barry Walsh goal in the 51st minute.

Eoin Cody did net for the Cats with eight minutes to go to leave the minimum between the sides prior to a Connolly free being backed up by Alan Walsh’s decisive goal for the Leesiders.

In Salthill, Galway got their second win of the league campaign by handing Waterford a third defeat on a 2-18 to 0-16 scoreline.

Both of the Tribesmen’s goal came in the first-half, with Ronan Glennon’s strike putting them 1-1 to 0-3 ahead in the sixth minute, and Colm Molloy’s strike 20 minutes later would have them on their way to a 2-11 to 0-11 half-time advantage.

Cathal Mannion raised his personally tally to 0-9 in the second-half for the home side as they moved away from the drop zone, with Waterford sitting on four points ahead of Offaly only in the table with five games played.

Limerick handed Offaly their fifth straight loss this afternoon on a 2-19 to 0-17 scoreline at Glenisk O'Connor Park.

The points of Cathal O’Neill, Adam English and Aidan O’Connor (free) helped John Kiely’s side to lead by 0-12 to 0-7 at the halfway stage and goals from Shane O’Brien and O’Neill in the space of four second-half minutes would put them on the path to their third win of the campaign.

Young star Adam Screeney posted Offaly last four point as he finished with 0-9 to his name, but it wouldn’t be enough to save them from a fifth defeat.
