Chris Crummey’s injury-time point rescued Dublin a 4-19 to 3-22 draw against Wexford in this evening's Allianz Hurling League Division 1B clash at Croke Park.

The capital men, who were down to 13 players after the dismissals of Conor Groarke and Paddy Smyth, grabbed their equaliser through Crummey in the 75th minute to avoid a second defeat of the campaign and deny the Slaneysiders what would’ve been their fourth consecutive win.

A brilliant contest at headquarters saw Dublin firing in goals via Cian O’Sullivan and John Hetherton inside the opening 20 minutes to lead by 2-6 to 0-5, but Keith Rossiter’s side battled back well and saw Kevin Foley hitting the net for them in the run up to half-time when they’d take in a 1-13 to 2-8 advantage.

Midfielder Groarke received his marching orders for Dublin just before the break, however they’d get back on level terms through Donal Burke’s 44th minute penalty and hit the front again with a Conor Donohoe point.

Foley and Hetherton registered more goals as the game moved into its final quarter and, after Smyth would be dismissed for a foul in the square, Lee Chin would put away the resultant penalty which looked like getting the Model men over the line until Brian Hayes (2) and John Bellew came up with big points down the home stretch for Dublin and there’d still be time for Crummey to nail the equaliser.

In Newbridge, Clare overcame the concession of two early goals to defeat Kildare by 0-27 to 3-14 to move a point clear at the top of the Division 1B table.

Cathal McCabe and Jack Sheridan netted goals for the Lilywhites inside the opening dozen minutes, but the visitors pucked over points that kept them right in touch and they’d register the last two points of the first-half via Shane Meehan and Senan Dunford to only trail by 2-8 to 0-12 at the break.

Sheridan and Muiris Curtin pushed the lead back out to four for the hosts, but the next four scores went the way of the Banner men, with Tony Kelly grabbing two of them, to bring the sides all square.

Cathal Malone shot Clare in front in the 49th and a barrage of points from Mark Rodgers, Kelly, Ryan Taylor and Jack O’Neill saw the gap start to emerge, with Rodgers (two frees) and talisman and Kelly sailing over to secure the win ahead of Sheridan grabbing a consolation goal for Kildare at the finish.
