Aidan O’Connor starred for Limerick defeated Waterford by 0-23 to 0-15 in Mallow this afternoon to claim their fourth Munster Hurling League title.

John Kiely’s men edged a 0-11 to 0-10 lead at the halfway stage before delivering the goods in the second-half to land an early piece of silverware for 2026.

Reuben Halloran, who finished with 0-7, brought Waterford level a minute into the second-half but Limerick, who made five changes at half-time which included the introduction of Nickie Quaid and Tom Morrissey, didn’t take long to get motoring after that.

O’Connor and Gearoid Hegarty helped to move them towards a 0-18 to 0-12 advantage by the 44th minute and they’d go up by seven with 10 minutes remaining at the Cork venue.

Ethan Hurley bombed over a superb point and ‘Man of the Match’ O’Connor rounded off his 0-11 tally late on as the Shannonsiders won out by eight in the end to record their first success in the Munster pre-season competition since 2022.
