Galway cruised to an emphatic 3-19 to 0-4 win over London in their opening game of the Connacht FBD Football League at the Connacht Centre of Excellence this evening.
Colm Costello and Ciaran Mulhern were among the goal scorers for the Connacht champions, who led by 2-10 to 0-2 at the halfway stage before going on to complete their 27-poinit rout of the Exiles in both teams’ first outing of 2026.
Earlier in the day, Mayo defeated Sligo on a 1-17 to 1-11 scoreline in Charlestown where Andy Moran’s reign got off to a winning start.
Paul Kilcoyne’s goal on the eve of half-time saw Sligo take in a 1-6 to 0-8 lead at half-time and they’d increase their advantage to five prior to Mayo closing the gap to one and then storming back in front with an Enda Hession goal which was backed up by points from Cian McHale (2), Ryan O’Donoghue and Tom Lydon.
