Three first-half goals helped propel Davidstown-Courtnacuddy (Wexford) to a 3-12 to 0-11 victory over Clane (Kildare) in Hawkfield this afternoon as they claimed the Leinster club junior hurling championship title.

Clane had been 0-3 to 0-2 in front when they conceded their first goal via James Doyle in the 11th and minute and their net would be rattled again eight minutes later when David Dunne fired in from close range.

Dunne’s second goal arrived five minutes before the break before the Kildare champions pulled back points through Daniel Malone and Paddy McKenna to ensure the sides went in all square (3-2 to 0-8) at half-time.

Malone pointed early in the restart for Clane, however it’d be their last score for 23 minutes as their Wexford counterparts hit the front and then stretched their advantage with scores from Pauric Doyle and Oisín Hayes.

Joe Doyle and Hayes (2) sent over points that helped usher Davidstown into an nine-point lead with a dozen minutes remaining, leaving Clane with too much ground to make up as the scores of Pauric Doyle and Brian Smith rounded off the Model men’s victory and provincial triumph.
